Workspaces are separate local profiles — one per printer, shop or business. Each keeps its own filament library, printer profiles and saved quotes. Everything is stored in this browser; no account, no server.

What workspaces are for
One MakerCalc setup is not always enough. If you run an Etsy shop next to personal printing, quote for two different clients, or price jobs on very different machines, mixing their spools and quotes in one list gets messy fast. Workspaces split that: each one is a separate local profile with its own filament library, printer profiles, saved quotes and calculator draft.
The active workspace badge shows which profile you are working in, and the table lists how many quotes, spools and printers each one holds. Switching is instant and never copies or moves anything — every workspace is a sealed box, so experimenting in one cannot corrupt another. Renaming is safe at any time; deleting removes the workspace and all of its data, and the app asks before it does.
Everything stays in this browser's local storage — no account, no sync, no server. The one thing workspaces do not do is move data between browsers or devices: for that, export the JSON backup from the Quotes page inside the workspace you want to take with you, and import it on the other machine.
Typical splits: one workspace per client when you quote for others, so each client's quote list stays theirs alone; one per machine class when a resin printer and an FDM farm share no spools, giving each its own filament library and printer profiles; or a scratch workspace for testing margins in Price Your Prints without touching live quotes.
Isolation is physical, not cosmetic. Every workspace namespaces its keys in localStorage, so the spool counts, saved quotes and calculator drafts of one profile are invisible to the rest. Renaming changes the label only; deleting wipes that namespace for good. All workspaces share the browser's per-origin storage quota — roughly 5–10 MB depending on the browser — ample for thousands of quotes, but still worth an occasional backup.
Workspaces sit above every tool on the site: the calculators, cost tools and drying utilities all run in whichever workspace is active and read that workspace's spools and machines. There is no hard limit on workspace count, but two or three well-named profiles beat a dozen forgotten ones.
