Price your prints
For Etsy and local sellers. Fill in your costs — the recommended price updates instantly. Use the filament and print time calculators to get the first two numbers, or quote whole jobs — parts, extras, batches, saved quotes — in the quote workspace.
Labor is charged once per batch — the per-unit price spreads those hours across all units, while material and machine multiply with the quantity.

How the price is built
Material, machine and labor form the subtotal. The failure rate spreads the cost of failed prints across the successful ones: at a 10% failure rate only 90% of prints sell, so costs are divided by 0.9. Marketplace fees (a percentage of the sale plus a fixed per-sale fee) and the profit margin are true shares of the final price, so price = (cost + fixed fee) / (1 − margin − fee%). For batches, material and machine multiply with the quantity while labor is charged once per batch and amortized across the units.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I charge for a 3D print?
Add material, machine + electricity, and your labor at an hourly rate, then adjust for failures, marketplace fees and a profit margin. The breakdown shows each line so you can defend the number to a customer.
Why does the failure rate raise the price?
Failed prints still consume material and machine time. At a 10% failure rate only 90% of prints can be sold, so the calculator divides costs by 0.9 to spread the losses across the successful ones. Dividing by (1 − failure rate) — rather than adding the percentage on top of cost — is the correct math: adding 10% at a 10% failure rate would undercharge every print.
Is the profit margin a markup?
No — it is a true margin on the final price. At 25% margin, a quarter of what the customer pays is profit; the equivalent markup on cost would be about 33%. Markup-based calculators that just add a percentage on top of cost overstate your profit: a 25% markup leaves only a 20% margin.
Does the price include marketplace fees like Etsy’s?
Yes — pick the Etsy preset (about 9.5% of the sale plus a 0.20 fixed fee) or enter your own numbers. Fees join the margin in the denominator, so the percentage fee is covered on the final price, not just on cost.
Should hobby sellers charge for labor?
Yes — count the hands-on hours: file prep, post-processing, packing and customer messages. The machine runs itself; your time at the bench is the scarce resource.
