Meters assume 1.75 mm filament and typical material density; the tare weight is kept for scale weigh-ins (gross − tare = filament left). Spools under 20% remaining are flagged in the danger color. Value is priced at what you paid per gram. To cost a specific print, use the quote calculator.
How spool tracking works
Add one row per physical spool, either from scratch or by copying a spool from your filament library. After each print, deduct what it used: the −50/−100 buttons cover quick partial prints, while “Used…” takes the exact grams from your slicer estimate and appends a dated note to the spool so you can trace where the filament went. The bar and percent show what is left at a glance, and anything under 20% turns danger-colored so you reorder before a big job stalls.
Not sure how much is on a half-used spool? Weigh it and subtract the empty-spool tare — per-brand tare values are in the spool tare database. All stock data stays in this browser's local storage, scoped to the active workspace; nothing is uploaded anywhere.
Weigh-ins and the low-stock overview
Weigh a spool on any kitchen scale to true up the numbers: gross minus the empty-spool tare is what is actually left, and storing that tare once makes every later weigh-in exact. If you only need the math for one spool — grams, meters, value — the spool remaining calculator does it standalone, without touching the inventory.
The summary line above the table doubles as a reorder list: it totals grams left and stock value across all rows and counts how many spools sit under 20% remaining. Treat that count as the shopping list to clear before a multi-day job, not after the extruder starts clicking mid-print.
Meter estimates assume 1.75 mm filament and typical densities — roughly 330 m per kilogram of PLA, a bit less for denser stock like PETG, more for lighter ABS.
